JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title        :           NURSING Incharge
Reporting To:           Administrator
Job Summary:
Hospital doctors apply medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention and management of disease. They work in wards and out-patient clinics.
Qualification:             B.Sc. Nursing with experience, M.Sc Nursing
Duties:
·        Responsible and overall In-charge of Nursing Services in a hospital or specialized centers irrespective of the number of beds. 
·        Responsible for implementing hospital/centre policies amongst various nursing units. 
·        Recommend personnel and material requirement for nursing various nursing service departments of the hospital. 
·        Assist in recruiting nursing staff. 
·        Carry out regular rounds of the hospital. 
·        Ensure safe and efficient care rendered to patients in various wards etc. 
·        Prepare budgets for nursing services. 
·        Responsible for counseling and guidance of sub-ordinate staff.     
·        Hospital/intra hospital meetings and conferences. 
·        Investigate all complaints regarding nursing care and personnel, and take suitable corrective action. 
·        Initiate and encourage research in nursing services. 
·        Evaluate confidential reports of her sub-ordinate staff and recommend for promotion, higher studies etc. 
·        Maintain cordial relations with patients and Medical Social workers. 
·        Periodically interact with clinical heads to discuss problems in patient care. 
·        Educate nursing staff of all categories by conducting awareness programme on universal precautions.
Hazards:
The work requires close contact with patients suffering from variety of illnesses. There can be considerable risk of being infected with hepatitis, pneumonia, and other infectious diseases. The work can be stressful and exhausting particularly when the facilities are stringent and duty hours demanding.
Other hazards may include:
·         Work-related stress, whose causal factors include excessive working time and overwork
·         Violence from outside the organization
·         Mobbing (workplace bullying)
