JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title        :           LAB TECHNICIANS

Reporting To:           LAB MANAGER

Job Summary:

To perform the specific scientific procedures that allows scientists to perform the more complex analytical processes of the laboratory.

Qualification:            

Diploma in Lab Technician.

Duties:

·        Performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations

·        Preparing specimens and samples.

·        Maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters

·        Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues

·        Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks

Working Condition:

·        Clinical laboratory personnel are trained to work with infectious specimens. When proper methods of infection control and sterilization are followed, few hazards exist.

·        Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) often are necessary to ensure the safety of laboratory personnel.

·        Laboratories are well lighted and clean.

·        Specimens, solutions, and reagents used in the laboratory sometimes produce fumes.

·        Laboratory workers may spend a great deal of time on their feet.
